Blairstown Animal Hospital’s medical director, is a long-time resident of the Blairstown area. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in the College Scholars Program with an emphasis in Biology and Zoology. After graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984, he joined the practice as an associate vet and later became partner. Blairstown Animal Hospital has progressed to be a member hospital of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the Pet Partners family with continued emphasis on excellence in medicine and surgery. Dr. Leal resides in Blairstown with his wife and numerous pets. Their four children are grown and at least one will be continuing in the veterinary profession. He is past president and current member of the Metropolitan New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Association of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society, the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association. He also currently lectures at various veterinary hospitals on the topics of sedation/anesthesia and pain relief, as well as drugs for skin disease. He is an instructor for an Imaging company that teaches veterinarians how to use ultrasound. Dr. Leal enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has special interests in anesthesia/sedation pain relief as well as surgery, ultrasound and endoscopy.
