Bark for Life

On Sunday September 22nd, Blairstown Animal Hospital will be sponsoring the first annual American Cancer Society BARK for Life Relay of North Warren, being held at Tunnel Field in Knowlton Township. We are inviting all our canine friends, clients, and the surrounding communities to join us in honoring the contributions of our canine caregivers.

This is an opportunity for the people affected by cancer, to be empowered through their canine friend and contribute to the ACS mission of finding a cure for all cancers. The relay is open to all canine companions, guide dogs, service dogs, rescue dogs, therapy dogs, police dogs, and dogs that have survived cancer. The canine-human partnership participates to celebrate the survivors, honor those who have lost their battle to cancer, and help fundraise supporting the American Cancer Society.

Our canine friends give unconditional love and compassion, security and joy, at a most desperate time to those battling cancer. They give no judgement nor see any inability of the caregiver at the most darkest hour. The wagging of their tail is always there to offer hope and support any time of day.
boy_dogwalkThis is an event all about the dogs. It is a non-competitive walk. The dogs and their owners will simply walk a few laps around a track while honoring loved ones. There will be guest speakers voicing what it meant to have a canine companion while battling cancer, as well as an owner describing her own dog’s battle with cancer. We will also have agility, search and rescue, and sled dog demonstrations being held. The dogs will get complimentary lunches and bandanas. There will be tasty treats available for the handlers as well. Dogs can also complete in a few games for fun. Or perhaps get pampered with a doggie pedicure being offered onsite. Many craft vendors, offering doggie apparel and people accessories, will be present. There will be music, balloon releases, complimentary gifts, and most especially, lots of fun for both dogs and owners.

The relay is being held rain or shine, on Sunday, September 22nd between 10 and 2pm. Registration starts at 10am with the agility demonstration beginning soon afterward. It is only $10 to register per dog/family.

Come out with your doggie friend to celebrate, support the ACS, help save lives and create a world with more birthdays for both canines and people alike.
